SKAI JACKSON IS AMONG ELLE MAGAZINE’S ‘NEW CLASS’ OF PROMINENT SOCIAL MEDIA VOICES

Skai Jackson is having the best year ever and it hasn’t slowed down yet! The fourteen-year-old social media darling was recently featured in Elle Magazine alongside the likes of KeKe Palmer, Ariel Winter, and Jordyn Woods for being Generation Z’s newest “it girl” in terms of using her voice to create her own destiny and refusing to stay silent.

“I’ve gotten approached like, ‘Oh, you’re the girl that’s on Twitter’ or ‘You’re the girl who was in the meme.’ It’s funny that sometimes people don’t really know me from my TV shows,” the Disney star told Elle. Known for her role as Zuri Ross on Jessie and now the series spin-off Bunk’d and most recently as one of TIME Magazine’s 30 Most Influential Teens of 2016, Jackson is truly becoming the voice of her generation.

Jackson has been known to be very active on Twitter and Instagram, starting earlier in the year when she had to defend herself against a negative regenerating picture turned meme. Then, there was her interaction with rapper Azealia Banks, and so on.  When asked how does she deal with it all, Jackson responded, “I definitely pick and choose what I put out and what I want people to know. I do see a lot of negativity, I mean, not everyone is going to agree with what I do at the end of the day.” Ironically, the titled “clapback queen” finished her statement by adding, “I would say if you are getting hate on social media, just don’t reply.”

In that vein, what is the overall best advice that Jackson has to leave us with? “Live for you and embrace yourself!” And we couldn’t agree more. To follow Skai on Instagram, click here.
