Seventeen-year-old Dante Brown, cast as Roger Murtaugh Jr, son of Damon Wayans in the FOX series Lethal Weapon, along with his cast mates return to the small screen tonight, November 16th, as the series has been extended for a full season thanks to high and strong ratings.
Brown, who established himself as an up-and-coming rising star at an early age, began his career as a baby, acting and modeling, landing campaigns for Keebler and Sears. His charismatic personality caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey when he was five-years-old, giving him the opportunity to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show’s first “Amazing Kids”, which featured Jay Leno as the host.
Continuing to charm Hollywood, Brown became known as a “young Denzel Washington,” quickly building a strong resume of professional credits that included a wide-spectrum of film and television, poising him to work with actors and producers such as Rosie O’Donnell, Michael Bay, Viola Davis, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and others. When not on set, you can find Brown in the studio, laying down tracks as “DanteThePoet”.
Lethal Weapon, the series, is an adaptation of the 1987 comedy action film starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. The television show stars Damon Wayans, Clayne Crawford, Jordana Brewster, Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Chandler Kinney, Johnathan Fernandez, and, of course, Dante Brown. Wayans and Crawford portray the roles of Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs.
The series, which has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award, holds true to the premise of the movie, following the adventures of two cops— “[a] good cop [and a] crazy good cop.” The show first premiered on Fox in September 2016 with only seven episodes. Fox recently picked up the series, extending it for 11 more episodes, noting the show’s potential to become a primetime hit.
Spoiler alert: If you tune in tonight, for the “Fashion Police” episode, you will find that Riggs and Murtaugh examine the murder of one of L.A.’s fashion expeditors as they follow a trail of evidence that leads them to an ongoing and exceptionally dangerous underground investigation led by the DEA.
