A blended family at its finest! Ne-Yo and Monyetta Shaw celebrated their son, Mason, and daughter Madilyn’s birthdays in a joint celebration this past weekend. Monyetta shared her delight in the kids’ party with Instagram fans.
“The M’s joint Birthday Celebration this weekend,” Shaw exclaimed in reference to Us Weekly’s exclusive coverage of the event. “Thanks 2 @freddyoart @ceocustomcakes & friends & family who made it!! Thanks @mrslelee for helping me plan their party for the 3rd straight year & Thanks @stylishlyshrewd for being our committee member,” she added. “You guys rock!”
Crystal Renay, Ne-Yo’s wife, was also in attendance at the party with the couple’s son. Ne-Yo commented on the harmony that his wife and older children’s mother shared during the bash. “The party was a success because our kids had a great time,” he said. ” No beef, no bad blood, no shade … we are grown. This is what it looks like when grown-ups act like adults.”
It was just a few days ago that Ne-Yo shared a picture of Madilyn and Mason surrounding their little brother, Shaffer Jr., with love. Crystal gave birth to her and Ne-Yo’s son earlier this year. Little Shaffer came just weeks after the couple tied the matrimonial knot.

“I haven’t slept in about 14 days,” Ne-Yo said of his life as a new dad more than four years after his oldest son was born. “I’m loving every minute of it,” the producer continued. “He does a lot of side-eyeing,” Ne-Yo shared of little Shaffer. “Looking out of the corner of his eyes like, ‘What are you doing?’ He does a lot of that. No words or anything.”
It was just a few years ago that that Ne-Yo gave his definition of fatherhood. “Whenever holidays roll around where I can just be home, that’s all I really want to do,” the producer revealed. “Being a man who did not necessarily grow up with his father, to me being a father is just being there,” Ne-Yo added. “Being there for everything and being there for nothing.”
The producer has certainly been “there” for the joint celebration of his son and daughter’s birthdays. “Ever since the M’s 2nd and 3rd birthday, Ne-Yo and I decided on a joint party for them because of dad’s busy schedule and the fact that their birthdays are close,” Monyetta Shaw told Us Weekly. “It was important for us to throw their birthday party together, as we have before, to continue to set a positive example for our kids and to let them know that no matter what, they are loved and celebrated.”
Mason celebrated his fifth birthday last month. Madilyn turns 6-years-old on November 12, 2016.
