By the time she was 8-years-old, Maya S. Penn was already an entrepreneur, starting her company Maya’s Ideas, an online shop where visitors can find eco-friendly, environmentally sustainable clothing and accessories. Shortly thereafter, Penn expanded Maya’s Ideas to include a non-profit organization called Maya’s Ideas 4 The Planet. She is an animator/film-maker, artist, illustrator, philanthropist, girl’s right activist and environmentalist who has been featured in or on the covers of Forbes, CNN, TIME Magazine, The View, NPR, Wired, Essence, and The Steve Harvey Show just to name a few.
As those accolades weren’t enough, Penn has the dubious distinction of being the youngest female ever to do two back-to-back official TEDTalks that have garnished more than 1.2 million unique views, making her one of the top 15 TEDWomen Talks of all time. Recently, now 16-years-old, Penn was named to Oprah Winfrey’s SuperSoul 100, again becoming the youngest member on the list.
Now this fascinating teenager has written an inspirational handbook entitled “You Got This! Unleash your awesomeness, find your path, and change your world.” In the book, Penn shares her life’s journey with readers, providing them a blueprint along with the tools that she used to help everyone from teens to young adults discover their passions and maximize their full potential.
The book is filled with ideas and prompts on many topics to help engage the reader, truly taking them on a journey of self-discovery, in hopes that Penn can help readers find their voice and path to becoming who they were truly meant to be. Some of the topics include:
- How Do I Put My Ideas into Action?
- Can One Person Really Change the World?
- How Can I Find Friends and Mentors to Support Me?
- Where Will My Path Take Me?
- Ten For Strengthening Your Hater Shield
