Cooking in the kitchen with Riley and Ryan is one of the greatest pleasures of celebrity mom Ayesha Curry. The author, and soon-to-be television personality, tells media that she gets joy out of helping her daughters develop their palettes.

“The way that I get [Riley] to try stuff is by [her] making it with me because then she’s seeing what’s going into [it] … and she’s feeling like she’s accomplished something.”

Riley has become somewhat of a star in her own right since putting on a show during her father’s press conference last year. “It’s a little bit intimidating I think as a mom, a little bit scary `cause the intentions weren’t there for that to happen,” Ayesha admits. “But we’ve kind of taken it on and taken it for what it is because if you have a gift to make people happy the way that she’s made people happy, I mean that’s OK. She puts a smile on people’s faces so we’re all right with it.”

Ayesha has also been under the watchful eye of the public, though not always for positive reasons. Some fans criticized her for an angry Twitter rant that she shared after the Golden State Warriors lost a game during the NBA Championship series. Ayesha later apologized for her comments but some still took her wholesome image as uppity and, hence, created memes that exhibited Mrs. Curry as the “holier-than-thou” type.

“I think it’s silly,” Ayesha says of the bad press. “It’s so funny how your personality and character can be shaped by other people and not yourself, and I would just like to say nobody’s perfect. I’m completely normal,” she adds.

Hopefully, the basketball wife’s upcoming cooking show on the Food Network, Ayesha’s Homemade, will shed more positive light on Mrs. Curry. “I tend to be supergoofy and that will come off on the show,” the celebrity mom reveals. “I’m just excited for people to see that I don’t take things so seriously — life’s too short, so we’ve got to have fun and make things easy.”

Ayesha’s Homemade, filmed at her home in Alamo, California, will premiere on October 22, 2016. Ayesha and Stephen Curry have two kids together.
