Tika Sumpter was the center of attraction during Thursday night’s world premiere of Southside With You in Chicago. The actress, who is one of the stars of the film, showed off her growing bump on the red carpet.
Tika wore a white dress that hugged her curves. The actress bore the glow that only pregnancy could give while taking pictures with her co-star, Parker Sawyers, and others.
Southside With You is the story of Barack and Michelle Obama. The film explores the president and first lady’s first encounter that ultimately leads to marriage. “I think it is a love story for Chicago,” says John Legend, who produced the film’s soundtrack. “You see so many aspects of the city,” he adds. “It’s kind of an epic first date to see so many beautiful aspects of Chicago.”
Tika Sumpter portrays Michelle Robinson in the movie and comments on the character’s self-assurance. “Her confidence, how she just stands on who she is, and she’s accessible and fun, it seems like. People love her,” the actress explains.
