“No music,” “Pay attention to the road,” “No cell phones,” are all things that we have heard during Driver’s Education; however, when it comes to driving with Anthony Anderson, his kids get extra bonding time with their dad and some driving fun!
The Blackish star told PEOPE Magazine in a recent interview that when it comes to driving around Los Angeles with his 20-year-old daughter, Kyra and 16-year-old new driver son, Nathan, “We make memes and Snapchats, Instagram posts and all that on the 101. But we were doing that responsibly! I was the cameraman and my son’s hands were on the 10 and 2.”
Anderson is proving that teaching your children to drive does not have to be unnerving. With a little careful creativity, it can actually be fun. With Nathan safely behind the wheel, Anderson explains to PEOPLE his and his daughter’s roles as Nathan’s copilots, “Me and my daughter were all over the place, bumping some J. Cole. We were just having a party in the car. We were having a party in the carpool lane.”
As with any parent/child relationship, there are the fun times and then there are the times that make a parent crazy. The relationship between Anderson and his two is no different. “What drives me nuts about my daughter? Her stubbornness. I wonder where she gets that from.” As for Nathan, “I’ll send him a text or I’ll call him and say, ‘Hey man, I sent you a text today, I called you today.’ ‘Oh yeah, Dad, I forgot.’ ‘You forgot to text me back? You forgot to return my phone call? Because I’m pretty sure there’s a girl, or girls, you’ve returned a text or call to,’” Anderson explains to the magazine. “That’s what drives me nuts about my son!”
