Russell Wilson is embracing his new life as husband and stepfather. The NFL star recently told media that marrying Ciara and becoming a parental figure to her son, Future Zahir, was the best thing to happen in his life.
“[Ciara] has been an inspiration since day one, and her little one, too, just watching him,” Russell said. “I was saying to somebody the other day that being a stepfather is one of the most loving things you can do,” he added.
Parenting little Future has taught Russell the importance and power of love. “You really, really learn how to love,” he explained. “Especially when it’s not yours, you know, you realize that every kid matters in this world. You know, every person matters. Every child matters. Every heart matters. Every soul matters. Every mind matters. And that’s why we’re here honestly, just for situations like that. That’s what I think about.”
Ciara and Russell Wilson wed at the Peckforton Castle in England earlier this month. The couple was in courtship for more than a year before tying the knot in front of family members and friends. Future Zahir is Ciara’s son with rapper Nayvadius Cash. He celebrated his second birthday in May.
