Great news! Tika Sumpter is pregnant! The actress showed off her baby bump during the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority induction ceremony.
Tika was deemed an honorary member of the group and expressed pride in her inclusion. “Proud to call these extraordinary women Breast Cancer advocate Karen Eubanks Johnson, Attorney Judy A. Smith or the ‘Scandal fixer,’ Ambassador Susan Denise Page and U.S. Deputy Surgeon General Sylvia-Trent Adams my new sisters,” the actress said. “So much love and positivity from my fellow sorors today. Overwhelmed by excellence, beauty and grace.”
Sumpter is not one who seeks out the spotlight. The actress did, however, share a precious memory from childhood during an interview with Ebony. “My mom was a single mom in Queens,” she told the magazine. “We had this huge Christmas tree with the lights and everything. I’d leave cookies and milk out the night before, and in the morning, there’d be a bite out of the cookie and the milk would be gone. I had this amazing spread of every toy. Now knowing how hard that must have been to pull that off as a single mom, I’m really in awe of her and how she managed to provide all of that.”
Tika Sumpter is expecting her little one to arrive in coming months. The actress is already the proud mother of a daughter named Aaliyah.
