Tatyana Ali is tapping into her mommy superpowers. The actress tells PEOPLE.com readers that she considers herself to be the female version of Clark Kent.
“She’s pretty dope,” she shares. “I worked really hard on her. She’s humble yet confident, dorky but still cool, kind yet determined, hardworking and fun. I wasn’t sure who the mom-me would be, but now that I’m realizing super powers are involved? She may even be cooler than the woman I was!”
Although many of her instincts come natural, Tatyana relies on her mom’s example to show her how to hone in on her gifts. “I was in pure awe of her when I was a child,” the actress explains. “She seemed all-knowing and omnipresent. I couldn’t get away with anything! As I moved into my teens, her powers were so … annoying! She knew exactly what I was up to. Consequently, it wasn’t much.”
Now, as a mom-to-be, Tatyana can relate to her mom’s awareness and protective spirit. “I can actually feel my superhuman gene switching on,” she says. “Senses heightened, split awareness, nesting in full effect, achieving bra sizes and levels of organization I have never reached before, a drive to put the needs of my child before myself??!! This is just the beginning!”
Tatyana Ali is expecting her first child with her fiance, Dr. Vaughn Rasberry. The couple is also planning to get married in coming months.
