Garcelle Beauvais and more stars sported bright noses on Thursday in honor of Red Nose Day.
The event was created to shed light on underprivileged children who often go without the necessities of life because their parents cannot afford such goods. Red Nose Day doubles as a movement and charity effort that raises funds for kids while spreading awareness about the growing epidemic of poverty among kids in the United States and throughout the world.
NBC aired its “Red Nose Day” special on Thursday with several big name celebrities in support of the show. Elton John and Blake Shelton rendered smash hit performances during the special. Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, and Celine Dion also made appearances. Julia Roberts’ segment was perhaps the most touching as it featured the actress visiting sick children who could not receive proper treatment due to limited funds.
Red Nose Day originated in the United Kingdom 25 years ago and has raised more than $1 billion for families in need since then. The event came to the United States last year and raised upwards of $20 million. See more photos of Jennifer Hudson and Heavenly Joy celebrating the day with their families.
