Ciara’s petition to have sole custody of her one-year-old son Future Zahir was denied in a court on Monday. According to TMZ, the singer pleaded with a California judge to grant her sole custody of her and rapper Future’s son, but the judge awarded joint custody instead.
“She claimed Future was a bad parent who was not present in the child’s life. We’re told she and her lawyer also trash talked Future to the judge, saying he was a bad person. For his part, Future showed up and asked for joint custody, and the judge was squarely on his side, rejecting her arguments. California courts favor joint custody, so the decision was in line with the law,” TMZ reports.
Ciara, who is now engaged to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, has filed a $15 million defamation lawsuit against her ex- fiancé Future. The case is ongoing.
