Erykah Badu invites Fader magazine into her home for their May 2016 issue. In the publication, the mother of three talks about becoming a doula, motherhood, creativity and much more. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
On giving birth to all three of her children naturally and being a credentialed doula:
āI love motherhood,ā she says. āItās natural for me. Being a doula, or being a mom, or even, like, making foodāitās just breathing and trusting, and allowing the creativity to flow through.ā
On her kids’ ability to speak more than one language:
āI just wanted to make sure that whenever I take over the country, I have a secretary of state, defense, and a peace ambassador at handā
On her Social media presence:
āBeing on Twitter, it sometimes feels like when Iām trying to talk to my kidsānot that the people I debate with on Twitter are kids or below meāas a parent or an elder thatās been here for a while and they have a rebuttal. The whole world to me is kinda like a private joke between me and God sometimes, and thatās how I treat social media, too.ā
