Naya Rivera and her son, Josey, are ready for their close-up. The celebrity mom and her son are featured in Fit Pregnancy this month, and the duo make a cute pair.

“I try to keep [shots of Josey] to a minimum,” Naya tells the editorial. “Don’t get me wrong. I want to post photos of him every day because he’s so cute, but I try to just post mostly on holidays, because some things should be kept private. Obviously, doing a magazine cover with him was a big decision, but I know it’s something we’ll look back on and cherish.”

Something else Naya will look back on and cherish is the moment she discovered that she was pregnant. “I said, ‘I’m on my way to the doctor to see if this is real.” The actress felt inclined to visit her physician after an at-home pregnancy test came back positive. Naya’s husband, Ryan Dorsey, was excited to hear the news and even had the baby’s name picked out.

“Ryan already had it picked out before we were even married,” Naya reveals. “You know you have those conversations as a couple like, ‘If we had kids, here’s what I’d want to name them?’ Well, Ryan had said if he had a boy he’d really want to name him Josey. So we went with that.”

Motherhood has been a great experience for Naya who learns something new everyday. “I have these ‘aha’ moments about motherhood all the time,” she shares. “For instance, when it was my birthday earlier this year, I called my mom and said, ‘I totally get it now; birthdays are for the parents.’ Now I understand that the day you give birth to your child, and see him for the first time, will always be such a special day.”

Josey is Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey’s first child. He was born on September 17, 2015.
