Watching a person evolve has got to be one of the most rewarding things in life. Idris Elba certainly thinks so as he tells PEOPLE that one of the perks of fatherhood is seeing his kids develop.
“The magic of watching their personalities form uniquely to them,” he says of what he loves most about parenting. “Watching them form on things that you and their mum have taught them and things they remember, that is really truly human magic.”
Idris has portrayed a number of roles onset which include that of villains. In particular, his character in Beasts of No Nation earned much acclaim. “There were so many dark issues explored in my character that I thought, ‘Can I really pull it across? Can I pull it off,” the star told media of his performance. “I’ve got children, [and] I felt very uncomfortable with being associated with a film that had a character like that.”
