“When my daughter was diagnosed with cancer she really stepped up and did things that a mother would do for Leah,” Devon says. “I definitely appreciate that and it showed me that I’m not going to find anybody out there who brings to a relationship what Asha brings, so I better make sure I lock her down.”

Devon adds that he and Ashae did have their ups and downs during the ordeal.

“It definitely impacted us a lot because we hit our low points not only as individuals but as a couple, because with all my daughter was going through I was emotionally out of the relationship,” says Devon of his daughter’s illness. Leah was diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2014 and given a 50 percent chance of survival.

“All my focus was on my daughter and everything I needed to do to help her beat this disease and it took a lot away from my relationship,” Devon shares. “No matter how bad it got, Asha stood there by our side, and she fought her way through, which I know was hard for somebody to be in a relationship and feel like they’re in it by themselves.”

Asha and Devon will join in matrimony next month. The couple plan to let Leah be their flower girl. “We have one flower girl,” Asha tells media. “Leah wouldn’t have it any other way, she’s set that as her rule so she wants to hold that title.”

Devon and Asha will wed on May 13, 2016.
