Anaya Lee Willabus has made history as the youngest published author in the United States to write a chapter book. Her story, The Day Mohan Found His Confidence, is making waves in the industry.
Willabus’ book centers around a boy’s struggle to rise above the pressures of life and thrive. Mohan must learn to balance school with family responsibilities all while developing confidence in himself. The story is one that both children and adults can relate to as everyone struggles with self-esteem and prioritizing obligations.
Anaya was inspired to create a moving narrative after reading the works of others. “I like to read all genres, of books,” she says. “I love both reading and writing. They both have something that I love in them.”
The young author’s mother is certainly loving Anaya’s book, and is every bit of thrilled about her daughter’s accomplishments. “We knew something was different with her,” she shares. “[Anaya] never learned to walk. She actually started running. She started reading at 2 years old.”
