The Obamas are not planning to move out of D.C. after a new president is chosen. The commander in chief recently told media that he and the family will remain in The American Rome until their youngest daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
“We haven’t figured that out yet,” the president said when asked about his and Michelle’s living arrangement after his term concludes. “We’re going to have to stay a couple of years so Sasha can finish [high school],” he added. “Transferring someone in the middle of high school — tough.”
Sasha is presently a sophomore at Sidwell Friends school. The teen attends the institution with her older sister, Malia, who will complete her studies as a senior this spring and attend college in the fall.
“Malia is more than ready to leave, but I’m not ready for her to leave,” the president told media a few weeks back. “I was asked if I would speak at her graduation, and I said, ‘Absolutely not,’ because I’m going to be sitting there with dark glasses, sobbing. Yeah, she’s one of my best friends. And it’s going to be hard for me not to have her around all the time. But she’s ready to go. You can tell. She’s just a really smart, capable person and she’s ready to make her own way.”
Malia has visited a number of universities since beginning her senior year a few months ago. Stay tuned to see which school she chooses!
