Co-parenting at its best! Swizz Beatz and ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere came together on Wednesday to support their son, Kasseem Dean Jr., at his music recital. The tween played the guitar and sang as his parents watched from the audience.
Mashonda even came onstage to sing along with her son. “It’s so gratifying to watch a child appreciate and grow into a musical instrument,” captioned the artist underneath footage of her and Kasseem singing. “Every recital proves to me how passionate he is about his guitar. For the past two shows he’s asked me to sing with him. Next year he said he will be ready to sing and play on his own. As parents, we must be examples and show our children that anything is possible. I’m very proud of this little, beautiful soul.”
When not singing or playing on his instrument, Kasseem Dean Jr. loves to create art. It seems that he gets his artistic passion from his father. Swizz recently told media that he is taking time to focus on the arts in his later years. “You can’t expect to do 100 things, so I really focus on art,” said the star. “I have won every accolade I can have in music. I am 36 years old now, have a family, am a husband, do you think I am going to dress cool and jump onstage for the rest of my life? That isn’t cool. If a person chooses to do that at 40, that’s a choice, but I don’t want that. That’s why I’ve invested more time and energy into the business and art world the past five years.”
