Kym Whitley and her son Joshua were two of many celebrities to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Disney’s ‘Frozen On Ice’ show at the Staples Center on Thursday. The star mom and her little one were dressed for the occasion with Kym wearing black winter wear with matching hat, and Joshua rocking a gray vest with jeans.
The newest season of the mother and son’s reality series, ‘Raising Whitley,’ is already underway and promises to be one of the most memorable showings yet. Kym decides to tell her 5-year-old son that he is adopted and battles with the possibility of him having resentment towards her.
While many adoptive parents wait until their children are much older to share such news with them, Whitley tells media that she decided to inform Joshua about his birth mother earlier in life so as to minimize confusion in later years. “You know, you start the conversation now at least introduce them to the word so it won’t be so shocking as they get older,” says the star. “[I say] ‘Adopted!’ or ‘you’re adopted!’ Or you know, ‘Adoption…You think we should adopt another kid?'”
Joshua is Kym’s only son. The star adopted him at birth five years ago after his birth mother named Whitley as a preferred guardian. See Kym and Joshua’s ‘Frozen’ showing below!
