Many were shocked to learn of Cordell Broadus’ decision to stop playing football in pursuit of a career in film. The teen’s passion for the sport was inspiring to thousands, including dad. While Snoop tells media that his son’s decision to quit football was shocking, he has nothing but support for Cordell and his plans for the future.
“[I told him to] be all that you can be in life. Play the game of life like you played the game of football,” shares Snoop with media. “Play it hard, with passion. Be serious about it. Be studious. Be humble, and strive to be great.”
Cordell told his coaches that he no longer desired to be on the UCLA team after he failed to report to the Bruins’ preseason camp a few weeks ago. “Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life — in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions,” said team coach Jim Mora in a statement. “Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.”
Cordell is one out of two sons that Snoop Dogg has with wife Shante Broadus. The couple also have a daughter named Cori.
