Stephen Curry won three awards at the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards on Thursday but all eyes were on his daughter, Riley, during the ceremony. The toddler helped her father celebrate his accomplishments and even got a surprise of her own.
Riley froze in her seat when her dad’s name was called for the Clutch Player of the Year award. At first the little one was unsure of the events taking place. Her shock, however, became evident when Stephen got up to accept the award.
One onlooker tells media that Riley “had the cutest reaction. [Stephen] lifted her up to move her off his lap and she stayed kind of frozen for a moment. Then as he started walking up to the stage, she started clapping for him — such a proud daughter!”
The little one also cheered for her father when he received recognition for having the Sickest Moves. She joined him onstage when Stephen was called to receive the Best Male Athlete of the Year award. That’s where she received the surprise of a lifetime.
Stephen told the crowd that Riley was celebrating her birthday, and everyone wished her well on her special day. Nick Cannon even gave the tot a high five, which boosted her confidence level.
Riley is Stephen and wife Ayesha Curry’s oldest child. She turned 3-years-old on Thursday, July 16, 2015. The Currys welcomed their second daughter, Ryan, on July 10, 2015.
