Autism is a subject that is especially near and dear to Toni Braxton’s heart. The singer learned that her son, Diesel, had developed the disorder when he was just a few years old. Although at first devastated by the diagnosis, Toni has managed to turn her challenges into triumph by sharing resources that parents of children with autism can use to help their kids.

In the same manner, Holly Robinson-Peete has also used her experience with autism to positively impact society. The actress’ son was diagnosed with the disability more than a decade ago, and has since managed to overcome the odds by maintaining a job. Rodney Jr., often stands in support of his mom as she advocates for awareness. Holly’s foundation has contributed thousands to researchers looking for a cure since its inception several years ago.

Holly and her family will be among millions of supporters participating in a global lighting ceremony in honor of autism tonight. Kameelah Williams, who has a son with autism, will also turn on a blue light in recognition of Autism Awareness Month. See what the singer shared with Instagram fans earlier today.
