Pharrell Williams has a lot to be happy about. Not only has his smash hit experienced international success but now he has the opportunity to further express his gift through publication. That’s right ladies and gentlemen. ‘Happy’ is coming to a children’s bookstore near you! Penguin announced its plans to transform the song ‘Happy’ into the book Happy a few days ago.
“I’m humbled by the global success of ‘Happy,’ but especially in awe of the song’s young fans,” said Pharrell in a statement shortly after the announcement was made. “My collaboration with Penguin allows me to continue a dialogue with these children in a fresh, new way. We’re both committed to feeding the curiosity of young minds with imagination.” Penguin plans to release 250,000 copies of the book on September 22, 2015. The publishing company will more than likely produce more if the book turns out to be a success.
If the book is anything like the record, then it is sure to be a hit. Pharrell released his album entitled G I R L, which featured ‘Happy’ last year. Since then, the single has garnered the attention of millions and crossed various genre barriers to become one of the greatest hits the music industry has seen.
“It was actually nine versions before I got to the 10th,” said Pharrell when asked about the success of ‘Happy’ just months after its release. “I got to point zero, and I just said to myself, ‘How do you make a song about a guy who is so happy and relentless in doing so?’ That’s when I realized that the answer had been sleeping in the question all along.”
Pharrell Williams is the proud father of a son who goes by the name of Rocket. He is also married to fashion model Helen Lasichanh.
