Lee is currently promoting his newest film, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus, which was funded though crowd sourcing. “My introduction to crowdsourcing was through my students [at NYU],” said Spike during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “They were using Indiegogo and Kickstarter to finance their films. That’s where I got the idea from.”

The filmmaker, who has been in show business for more than 20 years, also told media that his wife and children have caused him to be more serene. “I’m married. Two kids. My daughter is in film school, an undergrad sophomore at NYU. My son’s a senior in high school. So a lot has changed,” explained Lee. “If you get angry about everything you’re going to give yourself cancer. So you just gotta pick and choose. And to be honest, you can’t let anger rule your life. It’s just not productive. Well I can’t speak for everybody, but it’s not productive for me.”

Da Sweet Blood of Jesus became available for public viewing several weeks ago. Spike Lee and wife Tonya Lewis-Lee have two kids, Jackson and Satchel, together.
