Although the 2015 BET Awards had many notable moments, none could compare with the segment between Kanye West and Damon Dash. Damon, along with his eldest daughter Ava, introduced the rapper before he took the stage to receive the Visionary Award.
Ava stood by her father’s side as he told attendees that he wasn’t always fond of the ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ rapper. “My history with Kanye is I didn’t respect him as a rapper because I was around the greatest rappers….but he has courage,” said Damon. The producer went on to tell fans that Kanye had much heart and creativity.
Upon receiving his award and beginning his speech, Kanye acknowledged his wife and daughter. He also addressed Damon’s comments saying, “I understand how it feels to be humbled.” In all, the segment ended on a good note with Kanye taking a selfie with Damon and Ava. The teen was certainly photo-ready, wearing a pretty mini dress with accessories.
