In a new PSA for Do Something, China Ann McClain stars as Glitterhands, a “super-ish” hero looking to make a difference in the lives of homebound senior citizens this Valentine’s Day. Partnering up with Do Something and Mentor Up, the young actress is helping out with the second annual Love Letters campaign, which invites young people to make hand-made Valentine’s Day cards that can be delivered by meals on wheels to senior citizens, giving them a reason to smile on this very special day.

It is reported that 43% of senior citizens feel lonely on a regular basis. Elders who suffer from mobility issues may also feel isolated, making this day of love and togetherness an especially difficult one. Meals on Wheels is an amazing organization, which helps ensure thats seniors are receiving proper meals to stay nourished and healthy, but with your help, they can add a feeling of warmth by handing over a special card.

An enthused China said, “I was interested in being involved as soon as I heard about the Love Letters campaign because the concept was so sweet and original. I love doing things like this and making people smile so I thought the idea was just perfect.”

And you can take part, as well. A little glitter, and a little love, goes a long way. Sign up at DoSomething.org and report back with a photo for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship. The campaign runs through February 15. Also, while on the website, be sure to check out other Do Something campaigns that you can take part in to make a difference.

China (or, Glitterhands) may not be fighting crime, but she is fighting to lift the spirits of seniors this year, and you can too.
