Channing Smythe is defending Devon Still after comments of him refusing to pay child support for little Leah were taken out of context.
“Nothing was ever supposed to go public,” tweeted Channing. Several media sources got wind of a statement in which Devon was accused of not being current with child support payments.
Channing’s attorney, Gloria Allred, later released a statement that cleared her client of any misconduct. “Channing did not put it out to the press,” said Allred. “Devon knows what’s going on. #THE FACTS. Devon is a great dad. I NEVER SAID HE WASN’T.” Channing and Gloria also told media that the child support agreement that Devon has with his child’s mother is voluntary and does not legally bind him to pay a certain amount every month.
Still has responded to the reports since being called a deadbeat by some critics. “I don’t know who to blame between her and Gloria Allred for lies put out on me,” tweeted the Cincinnati ‘Bengals’ player. “The one thing that I do know is that I’m nowhere near a dead beat. I was raised by two amazing parents, including an outstanding father that showed through his actions with me and my siblings what it meant to be a FATHER.”
Leah is Devon’s only child with Channing Smythe.
