“I wanna transcend personality, I wanna transcend all of that and go into a higher state of being” the singer told The Fader. Willow also casually mentioned The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life, a new-age self-enlightenment guide written by Drunvalo Melchizedek.
It’s no secret that Willow and the rest of her star-studded family are not without what some may call their ‘eccentricities’. But both parents speak proudly of their children’s ability to think for themselves. Will Smith told New York magazine last year that “There’s something really incendiary about a 12-year-old girl who says and does what she wants.”
Musically, Willow describes her style as “rule-breaking”, and “pioneering.” Her haunting melodies, and unusual beats come together in to create a beautifully chaotic sound, if not hypnotizing. Add lyrics like, “Take the money, take the fame/ All I want is truth,” and you’ve got the makings for just the kind of star young folks seem to be looking for these days.
