Tamar Braxton explained on The Real that by proudly raising a mama’s boy, she is teaching her son how to treat women.
Logan is only 16 months old, but Tamar already has a plan to keep him close to her as he grows up — including white lies about bad things happening when you kiss a girl. The rest of the hosts were shocked and amused to hear of Tamar’s plans, which incited some laughs, and some sound debates.
The consensus seems to be that while it’s great for a man to have a close relationship with his mother, it can’t be so strong that it interferes with his romantic relationships. Jeannie May admitted that her husband is a bit of a mama’s boy, and that when he turns to his mother before to her, it does hurt her feelings. She told Tamar that she’ll have to accept that once Logan is all grown up, a wife has to come first.
Meanwhile, Tamera Mowry pointed out that in her experience, mama’s boys rely too heavily on the women in their lives. “If they don’t know how to do their own laundry, if they don’t know how to wash the dishes, then it’s going to interfere with who their dating… ’cause then they’re going to expect that girlfriend or that wife to always do it, and then it’s not fair for them.”
Not to worry though, Logan will have plenty of balance in his life. Auntie Loni (Loni Love) piped in to let Tamar know she would be sure to teach him a lot of things herself.
What are your thoughts on mama’s boys? Is there a point when it stops being acceptable? Or is it just plain adorable?
