Sherri Shepherd has relinquished her rights as a parent to little Lanar Jr., but big Lamar is not letting the former television co-host go without a fight. Lamar Sally recently told PEOPLE magazine exclusively that Sherri promised to be a mother to their child, who was born by way of surrogate last month, and that’s what he expects her to do.
“[Sherri] said, ‘I will love the baby like it’s mine,'” said Sally. “She never said she didn’t want the baby.”
Lamar also accused Sherri of blindsiding him with divorce papers in May, even though several media reports say that he filed for marriage dissolution from her after accusing the former television co-host of committing fraud.
Still in all, Sally expects Shepherd to own up to her responsibilities and, at minimum, agree to be named as little Lamar’s mother on his birth certificate. “I think it’s the worst thing in the world for L.J. to look at his birth certificate at 16 and see it says, ‘Mother unknown,'” said Sally to PEOPLE. A pretrial hearing concerning the matter is expected to take place in Pennsylvania next month.
