On a segment of “My Life as a Dad,” NFL player Benjamin Watson discussed what his daddy-routine is like, and how he and his wife Kirstin, share responsibilities.
Although he explained that he prefers to be an anytime dad, he confessed that during the season, his busy schedule makes him a “night-time dad”. Coming in after a long day of training he says he takes charge of bath-time and even does his best to help out with dinner. “I try to give Kirstin a break because she’s been with [the kids] all day.”
Truly recognizing the amount of work that goes into being a mom and being a primary caregiver, Benjamin said he never wants his wife to feel like she is alone in anything. “I think the biggest thing is just having that balance and working together,” he explained. The atlete also pointed out how healthy it is for the children to grow up seeing their parents connect. Whether it’s hugging, or arguing (which happens on occasion but can be handled in a respectful manner), Benjamin feels that the children can really feel the stability of their home through those moments.
