As a wife and mom of two, Katherine Heigl certainly has her priorities in order. Such was not always the case, though, as the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star tells Good Housekeeping that there was a time in her life when she missed out on precious moments.

She and Josh adopted little Nancy out of South Korea in 2009. “I didn’t get to wake her up from her nap, or do bath time or bedtime. I’d have to sneak into her room and kiss her when she was sleeping, hoping not to wake her up.”

Katherine further explains her dilemma between home and work by telling Good Housekeeping , “I felt like my priorities were messed up. I was putting so much time and energy into just my work, but I was raised [to believe] that family comes first.”

After deciding that it was time to take put her family before her career, Heigl opted to take a leave of absence from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in 2010. The actress and her husband also decided to expand their family and move to Utah.

Katherine and Josh now have a daughter named Adalaide, whom they adopted domestically in 2012. The Kelleys have been married for more than five years.
