Brave and Hero Pullens are pirates forever. The daughters of Cree Summer and husband Angelo Pullen recently took time to pose alongside mom.
“My Girls & I enjoying the Butterfly’s … Ah Life thank you for being so sweet sometimes #apirateslifeforme,” tweeted Cree.
The actress and her kids are firm supporters of the Pirate Sistahs United. The organization aims to empower and challenge women to step out of the ordinary life and into unknown territories like pirates often do. “Pirate women were considered especially dangerous, and accepted as leaders at a time when women on land had been robbed of their rights and dignity,” states the site’s “Welcome” page. “We pirates set sail for new shores into a world of adventures. Breaking out of structured obedience, preset orders and moral unities. We plunge into unpredictability, danger, excitement, dance, song and everything that strong, free, cheerful action implies.”
Summer is all about independence as she freely expresses herself through clothing and in interviews. The proud mom has served in several animated film roles since her debut as an actress in 1983.
