President Obama has been challenged by many things this year but few can compare with the struggle of letting his oldest daughter go to prom.

The Chief of Staff talked about the experience of seeing Malia off to her first prom with ‘Kelly and Michael.’

“I think it’s fair to say that the first time you see your daughter in heels, [it’s] a little bit jarring,” said the President. “She’s lovely, she’s beautiful.” Although the talk show hosts did ask for further details pertaining to Malia’s date, the President told them it was all “classified information.”

One thing is for sure, both Sasha and Malia are growing up. It was just a few weeks ago that First Lady Michelle Obama told DC drivers to make room for her eldest daughter on the road. “Look out,” said Mrs. Obama. The First Lady relayed Malia’s excitement about being eligible for a learner’s permit this Summer to Access Hollywood.

Although Sasha and Malia are the President’s kids, they don’t want to be recognized as anything more than ordinary teens. “They do not seek the limelight,” said the First Lady during an interview with the Chicago Defender. Now they’re teenagers, so now there are dances, and there’s driving, and there’s homecoming, spring break.”

Sasha and Malia will celebrate their birthdays in coming weeks. Sasha will turn 13-years-old on June 10, 2014, while Malia will celebrate her 16th birthday on July 4, 2014.
