Toni Braxton is getting creative with parenting. The R&B singer recently revealed that she is teaching her sons financial responsibility by making them pay rent and utilities.
“They pay rent,” said the star during a talk with Queen Latifah. “They get $10 and $12 a week and they pay me–one pays me $1 and the other pays me $2. They have to pay 75 cents for gas and electric, 50 cents for cable and things like that.”
Braxton further explained, ‘[It’s] just so they can understand, the value of a dollar and even when you get older, I should say, and leave you have to pay bills. And it was a shock to me when I had to pay bills. Like, ‘What do you mean rent?’ So I thought I should instill it in my little boys.”
Toni has two kids, Denim and Diezel, with ex-husband Kerri Lewis. Diezel celebrated his eleventh birthday in March.
