Tameka Raymond is gearing up to host the 2nd annual Kile’s World 5K Run/Walk Spring Festival this Saturday (March 29). The stylist will hold the event at the Chastain Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tameka began the Run/Walk Festival last year in honor of her son, Kile Glover, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a boat accident on July 21, 2012. Kile was 11-years-old when he died, and Tameka has been working to keep his memory alive ever since.
“I started this foundation. In honor of my late son Kile Glover,” wrote Raymond on her Instagram page a few days ago. “I hate to call it a foundation, non-profit, or 501 c3 because for me it’s merely a labor of love. What I am doing in my sons honor is the least that I can do. He left this earth far too soon and as a mother I ask for support in my efforts.”
The stylist further explained, “March 29th would have been my sons 13th birthday and it is a hard week for me in general. I hope to see you there. Chastain Park 140 West Wieuca Atlanta 9am. Race begins promptly at 11 a.m.. See you on Saturday!”
All proceeds from Saturday’s event will go towards Kile’s foundation which serves to benefit children desiring to have a career in the arts someday. Tameka mothers five children in all.
