There’s not one thing that Jill Scott doesn’t love about motherhood except for the fact that she’s doing it alone. The singer tells the ‘Breakfast Club’ that she is currently dating and doesn’t plan on having another child until after marriage.
“I thought about it a lot,” says Jill. “I would want to be married. I don’t ever want to do single motherhood again.” Although walking the path of parenthood as a single mom, Scott admits to having a village that helps her raise little Jett. “I keep my village together,” explains the artist. “I’ve got some really incredible friends who look out for me and look out for my son. His father is definitely a part of our lives. He takes time to spend with his son.”
Jill told Arsenio Hall last year that her son sometimes tests her ability to be a strong parent. “I have to find the strength to make sure that I’m a strong parent because I’m raising a little boy; a little brown boy in America and I want him to have dignity and grace,” said the star. “I want him to understand that he can do anything but he has to have a work ethic.”
Jett is Jill Scott’s only child with ex-boyfriend Lil’ John Roberts. He will celebrate his fifth birthday in April.
