Jerod Mayo will let nothing keep him from family. The NFL player recently talked about his career and private life, telling Boston Common that spending time with his family means a lot to him.
“I want to be home with my family,” said Mayo who wed his wife, Chantel, a few years back. The Mayos welcomed their first child Chya into the world on July 20, 2010, and watched her celebrate her third birthday earlier this year. Jerod Jr., the couple’s son, also celebrated his birthday as Chantel gave birth to him on the same date a year later.
In being given much, Jerod and his family search for ways to give back to their community. “We grew up in the church,” said the New England ‘Patriots’ player to Boston Common. “Giving back is just what we do.”
The Mayos give back so much that Jerod received the Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2011. “We know him to always roll up his sleeves while getting involved in creative ways, including leading art projects, serving children dinner and playing interactive games. It is clear that he wants to use his experience as a father to make a difference in the lives of each child he meets,” explained ‘Patriots’ Executive Director of Community Affairs Andre Tippett at the awards’ ceremony.
Jerod Mayo resides in Foxborough, Massachusetts with his wife and children.
