Jill Scott has a village of people to support her while raising her son, Jett. The singer recently sat down with Arsenio Hall to talk about her son and onslaught of supporters, classifying herself as a single parent with helpers.
“I am a single mom with a village,” said Jill. “Good people that love us both babysit for me and take care of him, and me as well.” Scott went on to gush about her little man, telling Arsenio Hall and audience members, “Jett is 4-years-old…and my heart. He’s a sweet kid. He’s a lot of fun. He tests and tries me which, that’s what they do.”
Jill talked about her rearing practices that include teaching Jett responsibility and self-respect saying, “I have to find the strength to make sure that I’m a strong parent because I’m raising a little boy; a little brown boy in America. I want him to have dignity and grace, and I want him to understand that he can do anything but he has to have a work ethic. My son vacuums the carpet. He vacuums the sofa. He starts the dishwasher for me. He sweeps the floor. He makes his bed, and if he doesn’t then there is h*** to pay.”
Jett is Jill Scott’s son with her ex-boyfriend, Lil’ John Roberts. He was born on April 20, 2009.
