The Miami ‘Heat’ player has set aside this weekend to host a four day long community event that will highlight his foundation’s accomplishments and give the residents of Chicago a bit of fun. Steve Harvey and wife Marjorie are two of many notables expected to drop by the celebration, and Dwyane Wade will kick off the event with a dinner and awards ceremony.

Wade’s World Foundation was established in 2003 after Dwyane felt a sense of urgency to help the community in which he was born and raised. The Miami ‘Heat’ player began taking Chicago’s youngest residents under his wings and showing them a better way of contributing to society. From that passion and dedication grew a successful foundation that assists thousands of troubled youth every year.

Dwyane is excited about his upcoming community festival and the strides that Wade’s World has made in the Windy City. “I love the community-based events,” says the Miami ‘Heat’ player to media. “I started [my organization] as a way to give back to the community, to be the example I always wanted to see and have as a young boy growing up in Chicago.”

Dwyane Wade has two kids, Zion and Zaire, with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. The b-ball player also serves as a father figure to his nephew. Find out more about Wade’s World Foundation here.
