Former boxing champion Laila Ali poses with her daughter Sydney. “Gotta love this little mini-me. Even with that little sassy attitude of hers!” Ali writes of the candid photo.
The mom of two recently told PEOPLE magazine that her two-year-old daughter challenges and defies her on so many levels that she’s beginning to run out of ways to punish her for disobedience.
“Am I going to count her down?! Am I going to give her a time out?! Am I going to take her bunny?! What am I going to do? Because with her, everything stops working,” says Ali.
Although frustrated with her daughter’s behavior at times, Ali admits that Sydney is giving her a taste of her own medicine. “Sydney is paying me back for all the hard times that I gave my mother, trust me,” relays the celeb. “Everyone says, ‘Hey, that was you!’ because I treated my mom bad in my teens, but Sydney just has a lot of energy. She has her own mind and she is going to do whatever she wants to do.”
While she is planning to implement more mechanisms to rear Sydney in the right direction, Laila has, for now, resorted to giving her daughter candy whenever she does what she’s told. “I give her M&Ms,” explains the star. “I will say, ‘Sydney, I will give you a piece of chocolate.’ And that is bad! I love the girl to death, don’t get me wrong, but she tries me!”
Sydney is Laila and husband Curtis Conway’s youngest child. The couple also have a son named Curtis Conway Jr.
