The Athletes vs. Cancer (AVC) organization has become known for its ability to unite athletes with sports fans and raise funds for cancer research. The flag football game was the non-profit’s first endeavor to host such an event, and it turned out to be a great success with celebs coming out to support and participate in the activity.
AVC has put on several sporting events, including golf tournaments and basketball games, since its inception a few years back. The organization’s main objective is to save lives while selling tickets. Matt Barnes founded the AVC in 2008 after his mother, Anna Barnes, passed away within a month’s time of being diagnosed with several types of cancer.
