Girl Power is alive and well in the Belafonte Household. “We’re all about girl power in our house and being respectful to one another and working hard in school,” says mom Melanie Brown. “Every night we try to have a bit of a dance off where we all let out our energy — which is always hilarious, especially with a 1-and-a-half-year-old trying to copy all of our moves. Our house is a fun house. But we all help with chores. We’re not lazy in our house. It’s good!”
The ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge also commented that her kids often visit her on the set of the show. “My kids always come down to the show, and Heidi’s kids were at the show in L.A. too,” said the singer. “I have a 1-and-a-half-year-old, a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old and a 14-year-old — all girls, and they love coming down to see the show. They love hanging out backstage with the other judges and the rest of the crew. They have a lot of fun.”
And do the girls love their mom’s music? “They’ve been in the studio with me. They’ve been on tour with me. They love everything about their lives. So far so good!”
Melanie and husband Stephen Belafonte have four kids together. The couple wed in 2007.
