Shad Moss, a.k.a. Bow Wow, is not the same person he was ten years ago. The entertainer recently told Oprah’s OWN network that he is more at peace with his life and no longer needs material possessions to define who he is.
“When I was younger I pretty much bought every car I wanted. We call it stuntin,'” said the rapper. “That’s when you’re flashy, you got all the jewelry, I don’t even wear that stuff no more. I’m so laid back and, you know, just chill. I feel like now I’m at that point in my life where that stuff doesn’t identify [with] who I am. I don’t need it anymore.”
Moss also commented on his 2-year-old daughter saying, “Shai lives in Los Angeles and I’m in New York full-time. It’s so hard. I Skype with her, and I just wish I could reach in there and grab her little self and I can’t. I missed her first step ’cause I was in Australia on tour. I missed her first word. So for the times that I’m with her, I always try my best to just take full advantage of it.”
Bow Wow hopes to give his daughter a normal life as he explained to OWN, “I just want to make sure [my daughter is] able to do the things that I wasn’t able to do. I wasn’t able to go to school dances. I wasn’t able to try out for my basketball team because I was on the road…Now that I have a little me here it just pushes the envelope a little bit more. It just makes me want to continue to strive to be the best at what I do and just go harder.”
Shad and ex-girlfriend Joie Chavis welcomed Shai into the world on April 27, 2011. The little one celebrated her birthday at Disneyland with mom and family friends. Bow Wow was unable to celebrate his daughter’s birthday in person due to his busy schedule in New York.
