Actors Jaden Smith and Will Smith have a few laughs during an “After Earth” photo call on April 23, 2013 in Cancun, Mexico.

The father and son duo participated in their first ever live Google+ hangout session as they discussed science, technology, innovation and their movie, After Earth. The stars were joined by Google’s Ray Kurzweil, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, environmentalist Alexandra Cousteau, and NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams for the virtual conversation.

“With this film, it was such a perfect collision of art entertainment, education and a posing of fantastic questions,” Will Smith said during the hangout. “As an artist, this film does exactly what I always dreamed to be able to do with entertain and to also be able to pose interesting questions.”

“I feel like I really saw some true beauty in the world after shooting in Costa Rica,” added Jaden Smith. “After that experience, it really showed me how important it is to save the world.”

“After Earth” is set for release nationwide on June 7.
