A reality show is not something that Holly Robinson-Peete and her family can see in the near future. It’s not that the family of six hasn’t tried to enter the Reality TV segment, but it just seems that they’re too nice to actually make a hit in the genre.
“We’ve been approached many times and we actually shot a pilot for [a reality show],” said Holly exclusively to ESSENCE at the 6th Annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon. “The feedback was like, ‘Maybe you guys are a little too happy.’ I think they need a little bit more drama so I might need to flip some tables.”
Although a little bummed about being passed up for a reality show, Holly is proud of who her family is and wouldn’t change anything for all of the drama and ratings in the world. “The good news is we’re pretty good,” the actress explained to ESSENCE. “We have our problems just like everybody else but the reality show world is a slippery slope so maybe it’s better that we don’t.”
Holly and husband Rodney Peete have four children-Rodney Jr., Ryan, Robinson, and Roman-together. The couple wed in 1995 after Rodney surprised Holly with a proposal on the hit show ‘Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.’
