Tia and Tamera may have star power but they cannot manage motherhood between just the two of them. The twin actresses recently sat down with Parents Magazine to talk about their incredible support systems and the beauty of nursing in motherhood.
Tamera was the first to talk about the great support system she has in nurturing newborn son, Aden Housley, which includes her mom and twin sister. “There are three people I turn to,” says the actress. “I turn to my mom to make sure things are normal. For instance, I wasn’t prepared for the baby acne thing. My mom told me this was typical. Who knew? I turn to my sister to see if my nephew, Cree, went through the same things Aden is going through. I also turn to her to find out what to expect, since her son is a bit older than mine. I also have a friend who is a night nurse and a doula. She’s great with putting babies on a regular schedule and getting them to follow asleep pattern.”
Although Tia has been a mom for a bit longer than her sister, Cree will be 2-years-old this year, she still requires much support from her husband Cory. “We (Tia and Cory) talk openly about who is doing what and then make a schedule,” explains the star. “For instance, if I cook dinner, my husband will clean up. We also take turns by creating a rotation process, like who gets up in the middle of the night if Cree wakes up and can’t fall back asleep.”
They may have different approaches when it comes to developing support systems but both Tia and Tamera agree that nursing is the best form of bonding. “When I nursed Cree, it was the best feeling ever. Those moments brought us closer together and brought me so much happiness. I also like to snuggle next to Cree when he sleeps. I love being close to him because I know these moments will not last forever,” said Tia. Tamera adds, “I absolutely love it. At first it was challenging because we both needed to learn the routine and how to do it. These moments have been so special because Aden and I learned how to do it together as a team.”
Tia and husband Cory Hardrict are the proud parents of Cree, while Tamera and Adam Housley are the exuberant parents of Aden,2 months.
