Arsenio Hall will go back to what he loves thanks to his 13-year-old son. The talk show host recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his upcoming venture back into television and his teenage son who motivated him to return to late nights.
Although he has enjoyed great acting and comedic careers, Arsenio has always held a special place in his heart for talk show hosting. “I always loved [talk show hosting], but I needed to diversify my life and do some other things,” said Hall. “I actually thought I needed changes in my life and I need to try other things. I wanted to do things professionally, like stand-up, and try some acting. I felt my whole life needed broadening. What I was confused about was that when you go from being on every night to just being a stand-up, your visibility is on a whole different level.”
Arsenio made the ultimate decision to return to center stage after a bit of encouragement from his son. “I told him what I was thinking about, and he said, ‘Dad, I think you should do it. You can win it.’ That was all I needed to hear,” said the entertainer.
‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ will return to late nights on September 9, 2013. It will be the first time that Mr. Hall is featured on television in nearly 20 years.
