While some were watching the inauguration and others were enjoying amazing food, NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire and his clan were giving back to the community on MLK Day. The New York ‘Knicks’ player spent the entire day at Madison Square Garden with his family, thanking all of the workers for their labor that makes each basketball game a success.
“They actually work for the Garden and work here to help our organization grow smoothly. So it’s only right to show support on how much we appreciate how much they work,” said Stoudemire. “It’s really just showing support that we truly appreciate all the employees that actually make our job easier as basketball players. It’s on a special day as well, a day of unity. It’s great to bring everybody together for a nice cause,” explained the NBA sensation.
Amar’e’s wife, Alexis Welch, joined her husband and kids as they sat and dined with the workers on Martin Luther King’s birthday. Stoudemire even shook a few hands of die-hard fans. “Happy #MLK day from #teamstat#statfam…thank you to all of the MSG employees we truly appreciate all that you do for #NYC. @amareisreal,” tweeted the star athlete.
Amar’e and Alexis parent three children together. They are expecting their fourth child to arrive in the later part of Spring.
